I woke up this morning to a lovely review. A one-star review. Now, I'm not a stranger to one star reviews. When I first came out as an Indie Author, I got slammed by a group of trolls that eventually became known as the GoodRead Trolls. They went after my book, Seductive Secrets. I mention this because there is a similiarity. Seductive Secrets is a historical romance, romantic suspense book, but the main secondary character is gay. I don't write gay romances. I write romances with vivid characters, which includes having a gay character if the storyline takes me there. Charles is one of my favorite character I've written. I have discovered I have a lot of beanie babies...all kinds. I'm not an expert on Beanie Babies, but I would say that they are probably not even worth what I paid for them. You know what—I don't care. Nope... and here's why. I collected them back in the '90s along with every other mother in the United States. No, my kids were not going to be the only ones in school not having the latest craze. There was one thing to my logic. My kids couldn't play with them. So, I bought some for them to play with, but the majority were stored never to see the light of day. Until now! I was cleaning out the attic last week and found the containers. Yes, containers. I love a story so well-crafted as to suck me in from page one and keep me rivoted, so that when I reach the end, I feel a tinge of regret the story's over. Ms. Connally gives her readers an opening scene that pulls one in for the emotional,romantic and danger-filled ride. This is in many ways a coming of age story with a female bent, rather than the typical male coming of age story. Kela develops and grows in an admirable, satisfying manner. Cono will make you sigh.
