KINDLEUNLIMITED KINDLEUNLIMITED Being an Indie author, one has to keep up with the growing trends in online publishing. Keeping up with these trends can be tricky at times. One of the challenges is knowing when to put your books into Kindleunlimited on Amazon and when to leave them on all the other sites. Personally, I would love to have my books on all the sites at all times. One of my favorite things during Christmas shopping is to sneak into Barnes&Noble, get a cup of Starbucks, and browse through the books. I was shopping yesterday. It struck me that Christmas is just around the corner. The shops are filled already with Christmas decorations. Most years, I might have complained. This year, though, I think I appreciate the atmosphere more. I want to feel the joy and happiness that the holidays bring, even if it is before Thanksgiving. To be honest, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It's about being thankful. This Thanksgiving, I'm so grateful for so much. My family. My health. Also, for having the precious time with my momma before she passed. The loss of my mother has hit me hard. She fought hard to recover from her stroke last November, but I will hold  to  the moments we shared during those last few months. She will always be in my heart. I'm also grateful that I feel my writing again. It has come back. KINDLE SCOUT I have put my new release in the  Kindle Scout  program. I have been reading about the pros and cons to this program. My opinion...doesn't hurt to try it. Amazon is the reason I'm an Indie author. Over the last few years I've been an Indie author I've learned things about publishing. It's competitive. One would think—write a good book and they will come. The truth is they have to know you have written the book. It's called promotion. I feel I have been fortunate in one way. I'm not a New York Times bestseller, but for the first time readers were reading my stories. I am a self-taught writer. Like most writers, I wanted to write since I was young. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!   I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Holiday Season.   Putting everything on the back burner for a few days. It's time for family and friends. My family is doing things a tad different this year. My mother-in-law has Alzheimer's. We usually have Christmas Eve over at my in-laws with my husband's family, but this year my father-in-law isn't up for that. So we're on our own for Christmas Eve. Now for Christmas, it will be the same. I cook. The only time of the year I really cook is Christmas. We are having everyone over at our house, which should be a great time. What Goodreads allowed was an environment to develop that undermined its original intent. I do believe in everyone's right to their opinion. Not everyone is going to like what I write. I don't like every book I have read, but this I do know. I have never left an offensive or malicious review even after discovering some of the people behind the attack on my writings. I write Romance. I write what I feel and Romance is what I feel. More than likely, the Winds of Betrayal series would be considered Historical Fiction, but on the whole Romance is the driving force behind my books. I was reading an article on the internet that someone said that romance novels are bad for your health. I disagree. On the contrary, I believe it is just the opposite. While I'll concede that romance novels are fantasy, the love behind the books isn't a fantasy. Sometimes we need an escape for a few hours into a different world than the one we live in. Not that there is anything wrong with the world we live, but sometimes its nice to be reminded about the love we share with our better half or that there is someone out there for us.
